Health Concerns
It seems like everyone I know is having some type of health problem. They're all waiting for test results and keeping their fingers crossed as they hope for the best. About a week ago I was waiting for test results. What I thought was a sinus infection never got completely better so I had to have a CT scan. That scan shows that I have a lot of blockage in my sinuses. That explains the pain and pressure I've been feeling for a month and a half. In the beginning it was constant, intense pain, but now it's intermittent. I don't know which is worse. It makes me feel like the big, stone head in the picture. Anyway, there's one more treatment my doctor would like to try before we even consider surgery. When I go to my appointment tomorrow, I'll be having one of those "fingers crossed" moments because it's always best to avoid surgery, if you can. For 33 years I've lived without surgery or broken bones, so I'd like to keep it that way. Here's hoping....

Drama, Drama Everywhere
My next door neighbors are notorious for disturbing the peace. Any time that they go in or out of their apartment, they slam the door. They also walk really heavily with shoes on (the floors are hardwood) and talk very loudly. The walls are thin, so we pretty much hear everything that they say. At no time was that more evident than at 6:35 on Saturday morning. Apparently the girlfriend didn't get home until 5:00 that morning and the boyfriend found evidence that another man is involved. To say that all hell broke loose is putting it mildly! There was lots of yelling and swearing by the boyfriend and lots of begging from the girlfriend. It came in waves. For a few minutes there would be silence, then the next thing you know he's blow up again. The boyfriend packed a few things and left, but he came back the next day. I guarantee there will be more drama, and there will definitely be more door slamming. I told my boyfriend I'm glad we're not like that.
Argument aside, I wonder if it's just natural for them to slam doors and walk loudly at all hours of the day or night. It's not like we live in an actual apartment building. We live in a house that has been converted into apartments. Also, I know hardwood floors make noise, but damn, do you need to walking with your shoes on at 6:30 in the morning on a weekend? As time goes by, people are becoming more and more inconsiderate. It's enough to make you want to bust 'em in the face!

Thank God it's Friday!
Every week most of us work toward this day so that we can have another 2 days off. The expression Thank God it's Friday (TGIF) is used often and by many. Is there anything else you can think of to thank God for. In this instance the word "God" is used as a catch-all word to encompass all spiritual beings. Not everyone believes in God, per se, but they do believe in a higher spritual being.
Those of us that have a job to go to every day should thank God for that, because there are so many who don't. Are your parents still alive? Another reason to be thankful. If they love you and raised you like they should, that's even more of a reason to be thankful. Can you get out of bed every day and walk out your front door without assistance? Ah, one more thing to be thankful for.
It's easy for us to look at what our lives are missing. We spend so much time doing so, that we forget about the things we do actually have. We're a society that has no problem focusing on the negative. How many feel-good stories do you see when you watch the news? Not nearly enough. There are good people and good things out there in the world, but they're overshadowed by the not so good. I challenge anyone who reads this to think about the good things in their life and see how much happier they feel.

Walking the Walk
It looks like maybe every other blog post is going to be about Gavin, but that's not necessarily a bad thing! He's a huge supporter of the charity Nothing But Nets which provides repellant treated bed nets to African refugee camps to prevent malaria. It's not enough for Gavin to support this cause by raising money, he also plans to hand deliver the nets that his fundraising efforts have paid for as evidenced by a bulletin posted on MySpace:
"This Saturday, Gavin will be departing for Uganda to spend a week going to refuge camps to hand deliver the Malaria bed nets to those in need! Please stay tuned for pictures, videos, and very special blogs directly from each camp that he visits!"
Now that's what I call walking the walk. It's easy to talk the talk by saying that you support certain causes, only going so far as to mail a check on a regular basis. It takes real humanitarian spirit to get down in the trenches, so to speak, and actually look the people that you're helping in the eye. That's how you know that you're really making a difference. Gavin, I applaud you for being the kind of person that knows that first-hand experience of others' hardships make you a more compassionate and giving person. I also applaud your parents for instilling such values in you. You've made your fans very proud. Just when we think that we couldn't possibly love you any more than we already do, you prove us wrong by opening your own heart just a little more!

Do My Kitties Really Hate Each Other?

I live with my boyfriend and each of us brought a cat into the relationship. His cat, Smoke, is almost 14 and my cat, Topaz is almost 6. I figure it's the difference in age that makes them not get along very well. I also figure that since one is a boy and the other is a girl, there might be some antagonism there. Smoke is the more mellow of the two. I'm not sure if that's because of his advanced age or because his breed is a mellow one in general. When Topaz is around, he's not bothered either way. On the other hand, when Topaz sees Smoke, she immediately hisses at him and runs away. If he tries
to eat at the same time that she does, she'll hiss and just let him have the food. Occasionally, I do hear sounds of yowling and see fur flying. They're like a step-brother and step-sister that just really don't get along. I think that Smoke would love her if she let him, but Topaz ain't havin' it!

What's going on with Gavin
For those of you who may not know, Gavin DeGraw is releasing a new album on March 31st called "Free". It's going to mainly be a collection of fan favorites from his shows with a cover or 2 thrown in. To promote the album, he'll also be doing the "Where it Began" Tour, which is a way for him to get back to his roots. Below you'll find tour dates and a pic of the album cover.
